Okay, this is a third meta-heading for topics that do not quite fit under “urbanism” nor under “political economy.” Yes, you could make an argument that modernity, identity, and the feminization of labor fit under “urbanism.” I won’t dispute that. At the beginning of The order of things, Michel Foucault wrote a hilarious passage about the absurd way we try to categorize knowledge. My desire to make this site easily navigable falls directly into the trap of the modern tendency to sort and stuff things into discrete categorical boxes. Time permitting I will cross-link and cross-post within this site to erode that silo-like tendency; but Foucault’s warning stands.
